Countertop Material Options

Granite

Granite is the go-to countertop material for so many. The different design options from the configuration of so many different stone styles is plentiful and will fit anyone's style desires! Not to mention the durability of granite! Granite was once only found in high end homes, but over the years has become more commonplace. Regardless to the common use of granite countertops, they still add a certain extra value and wow factor to a kitchen.

Solid Surface

Solid surface countertops like Corian have a great reputation for durability. Solid surfaces are made from 100% acrylic, 100% poly or a mix of the two. This creates a stain resistant, durable surface that can be completely renewable or repairable.

Quartz is another solid surface option. The technology available to engineer quartz which is made from about 94% ground quarts and poly resins that bind it and pigments give it color, has made the style options endless. These resin also double as durability agent, making quartz stain and scratch resistant.

Formica

Plastic Laminate or Formica countertops are available in hundreds of different colors, styles and patterns. Formica is a cost efficient option that is also lightweight and doesn't necessarily require professional installation. Formica doesn't have the same durability that other countertops boast, however Formica is hard-wearing material that will hold up for many years.

Cabinet Material Options

Laminate

Laminate cabinets are made from pressed layers. Laminate comes in a variety of colors, patterns and even textures to find your perfect style. These laminate cabinets can be very strong and durable which is good because it can be difficult to repair chips or damaged edges properly since it is made from pressed layer style. Laminate cabinets are a great choice for kitchens or bathrooms because they are easy to clean and typically stain resistant.

Wood

Wood cabinets have a very luxurious style about them and you can't go wrong despite the species you choose for your wood cabinets. Be aware of the overall style and design you are hoping to achieve when choosing a species however. If you are designing a lighter kitchen you want to choose a species like elm or ash, but if you want a darker look you can always go with a walnut or cherry. You can always choose to stain the wood darker or even go with a clear stain to bring out the natural richness of the wood.

Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF)

MDF is a composite material made from pressed recycled wood fibers and resin to create durable material. MDF can be more durable than wood because it is not effected by temperatures and humidity. MDF cabinets require little maintenance and are stain resistant and easy to clean. MDF is engineered to have a solid smooth finish that is great for painting and opens a wide variety of style options.
