DHS: Residential construction is ‘essential business’, but no word on Pennsylvania yet

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) on Saturday designated residential construction—of single-family and multifamily housing—as an “Essential Infrastructure Business.” The National Association of Home Builders called it a “critical win for NAHB and the residential construction sector.”

The designation will enable many home building firms to keep their businesses open during the COVID-19 pandemic and help to stabilize the housing industry and its supply chain in the near term. However, there are no indications at this time to know if this will have an impact on Governor Wolf’s shutdown. As we learn any new information we will pass it along to you immediately.
