Saturday, July 15th we celebrated our 90th Anniversary in the place it all started, Curwensville, Pa. It was a beautiful day with lots of activities going on all throughout the town, but the excitement at Lezzer Lumber was palpable.
For ninety years this community has supported our store and helped us build the company to what it is and we wanted to thank them the only way we knew how; a giant party. We invited local organizations to participate in different ways to help raise money for their causes like the Rotary Club of Curwensville, holding their annual chicken bbq in our parking lot, youth baseball teams rallied around a dunk tank to soak their coaches after a season of long practices and sold hot dogs and drinks for spectators. The high school volleyball team offered baked goods to the community to help raise money for their upcoming season. Moe Lezzer’s great granddaughters setup a lemonade stand to raise money for the Lezzer Lumber Jesse Tree fund that helps buy presents for families in need during the Christmas season. The artistry of the Wizard Workshop’s Randy Rupert was on show as he crafted beautiful sculptures with his chainsaw and blow torch. All of this while we listened to the musical stylings of Brennen Bell as the disc jockey for the day.
As if this weren’t enough, the Lezzer’s brought in a special guest to help celebrate the anniversary. We were joined on Saturday by former Pittsburgh Steeler defensive end, Brett Keisel. The line snaked all along the different booths set up around the Curwensville yard to get an autograph and a picture! Brett was introduced to the crowd with Styx “Renegade” playing in the background and he graciously met as many people clad in black and gold as his schedule would allow. The Lezzer family bleeds black and gold, from their high school alma mater, to the company colors, so the effect of a Pittsburgh Steeler in their offices was not lost on them! Moe Lezzer showed Brett all of his memorabilia he had collected over the years and told him that he’d been to every Steeler Super Bowl, to which Brett responded he had only been to three!
Once again, it was a beautiful day that Lezzer family was so happy to celebrate not only the longevity of their company, but the community that had a hand in creating their success. It was a day that will not soon be forgotten for Lezzer Lumber and the community of Curwensville! Thank you again to all of those who have supported Lezzer Lumber through the years and we look forward to continuing to serve you with the best customer service and quality products!
