With the holidays now behind us and a brand new year beginning, my family and I reflect on our past and look to our future. The year 2017 brings with it a major milestone for the Lezzer family, the 90th Anniversary of Lezzer Lumber.
In 1927, my grandfather, Michael H. Lezzer along with his two cousins, Charlie and Louie Sandri started the Lezzer-Sandri Lumber and Farm Equipment Company. Approximately 20 years later after serving their country, my father, Maurice, and his brother, Ken, returned home to branch out with their father in the lumber part of the business. What started in our small hometown of Curwensville, Pennsylvania, has grown over the last nine decades to include 11 retail stores statewide, our truss manufacturing plant and three commercial door facilities that service not only Pennsylvania, but the surrounding states.
This significant milestone has had a profound effect on our family as we reflect the ebbs and flows of success in this industry. We are grateful to so many people who have contributed to the longevity of our business. The relationships with our vendors have been an important part of our growth, but there is no Lezzer Lumber without two very important groups of people. Our employees have been the foundation of our success through the years. The dedication and respect each and every employee has shown to this business has created opportunity to expand throughout the state. The other group of people we are forever grateful for is our customers. You have given us life over the last 90 years. You have supported our endeavors and trusted our company with your homes, your businesses, your reputations. We recognize that as no small feat, we carry that with pride and honor.
Thank you to everyone for your part in our business. Together we Honor the Past. Together we Build the Future.
